The
Philippines has increased the use of K-9 dogs for security purposes inside
malls, office buildings, both private and public, and in train and bus stations.
Generally, crowded places. K-9 dogs that are used in the Philippines are mostly
trained for bomb sniffing due to the rise of terrorist attacks in the country.
The most common breed used in the archipelago is the Belgian Malinois also
known as the Belgian Shepherd dog. Most people mistake the term K-9 for the dog
breed and some also think that all dogs can be trained to sniff out bombs.
Unfortunately, only a few dogs have the intelligence and the drive to pass the
training. Breeding a male and a female bomb sniffing dog will not even assure
you that one of the puppies in the litter can pass the training.
